Boss Fight Test
Here's a little sample. Quite fast. Tell me your thoughts.
Edit: Finished.

Yeah, I'm digging the fast crazyness in this. I wonder what it would sound like with the lead arpeggio an octave lower. Or maybe doubled it up and turn it into a chord?

I like this more than mine. so are we doing 16 bit sounds?

Re: Boss Fight Test
I'm not limiting myself to 16-bit, but that's sort of the style I was going for here. I could also bitcrush the drums (basically making it a bit distorted and staticy) so then it would sound more like a retro song. I'll add another file that has first the original, then an octave lower, then together, then the original with bitcrushed drums.
I think LinkEdward's would be good for leading into a boss battle, but it's a bit too slow for the actual fight.
Also, I accidentally made this thread have the same name as LinkEdward's. Whoops.
Edit: Thanks for the idea of having a chord, that sounds much better. My headphones are broken and I have no others, so I don't think I'm paying as much attention the bass as I should. Also, it's in the dropbox now.
Edit2: Do you think I should lessen the volume of the drums?

Re: Boss Fight Test
I was going to say to try adding some digital distortion to the drums. I just listened to the lower octave, I like that one better.

They seemed alright to me, but now that you mention it they probably could go down just a touch. Just listened to the new one BTW, I'm liking the switch up. My only suggestion right now is to take it away from that main melody for a bit. It's aggressive and intense which I really like, but considering it's for a boss fight which can last upwards of 10 minutes I think I would go insane listening to that one melody over and over

Good idea. I'll add something a bit slower and have that most of the time, then switch to the fast for a bit (with the chords). I think I'll keep the bitcrushed drums as well, and turn down the volume a tad.
Thanks for the feedback.

I'm sure there will be multiple bosses.
Also, I just heard your new boss battle track. What are you using to get that orchestrated-style sound? I like it.

Im using reason 5 and it comes with a sound library called Orkester, not sure if you can get it anywhere else, but theres hundreds of presampled orchestra instruments.
BTW, its not new, I just renamed it because I like yours more than mine, and I think mine would go better like as the antagonist's theme or something.

By new I meant newly updated. Sounds good, I need to go find some orchestra samples.

Well I'm not sure what software you use but I packaged up a bunch of orchestral sounds that you can plug into a synth. They're in a zip file called "Orchestral" in the dropbox.

I like this song. It's very Earthbound-esque.
